Spring season and Reiki

Happy spring!

I hope each of you are enjoying the beauty of the season! Spring is a time of awakening and blossoming, a time when the earth and our bodies awaken from winter’s hibernation, and our energy warms and becomes more expansive. It is also a time of a great global shift — politically, environmentally, and spiritually. As we all experience these changes externally, it is essential to integrate them internally. To rediscover a resting place, a sense of stability and support in our own bodies. It is the perfect time to cleanse the body and spirit, to sharpen your awareness, and to center your intentions. It is wise to come into this enlivened energy of spring and changing energy of the world in a mindful and compassionate way.

The gentle approach of Reiki is a perfect support during a time of change and rebirth. Reiki is an ancient hands-on healing technique where the practitioner guides universal energy to restore balance in the body, mind and spirit. It is done while laying on a massage table, fully clothed, and relaxed. During a Reiki session, you are provided an opportunity to deepen connection to your body’s energy system, cleanse unwanted baggage, and gain insight on what you are called to do now. The experience of receiving Reiki is restorative, relaxing, and for many it can be renewable.

Reiki becomes an integral part of your being, your motivation, and your attitudes to everything and everyone around you.

Using meditation in a reiki session may help to break down energy blockages. Closing your eyes and focusing on particular areas while you are giving or receiving a treatment helps to marshal the universal energy and channel it to the places where it is most needed. You may find that certain areas of the body are drawing little energy compared others. Sometimes the practitioner or receiver feels warmth in the hands or in a particular area – signifying a lot of energy being drawn into the receiver. Equally, either may feel a tingling somewhere, or nothing at all. If you sense any blockages, imagine yourself grasping the blocked energy and pulling it up and out of your own body. This will help to free the blocked area, and allow the energy to flow smoothly once again.

The effects of meditation are primarily centering and calming. The practice of reiki is itself almost a form of meditation, with which it shares many similarities.

Introducing meditation into your life can calm the mind, soothe the body, and refresh the spirit. Even a five-minute session each morning can help you start the day in a relaxed frame of mind. Many people say that once they have been attuned for reiki, they achieve a deeper, more relaxed state in their meditation practice with much less conscious effort. The quite time of e reiki treatment session may seem less strange for the giver or the receiver if he is familiar with meditation.
